Side is an ancient port city (on a peninsula) located near modern Manavgat — roughly 7 km southwest of Manavgat center.

Historically, it was one of the important ancient cities in the region of Pamphylia.

Today, Side is a blend of old and new: well-preserved ancient ruins (temples, theaters, streets, harbor area) exist along with a lively seaside town / harbour area.

Key historical/architectural highlights you’ll likely see: the remains of city walls and gates; an ancient city-gate / triumphal arch; a Roman-era theater / amphitheatre; public buildings such as agora (old marketplace), nymphaeum or ancient fountains; aqueducts / water-systems; and, near the sea, the harbor area laid out centuries ago.

One especially iconic monument is the Temple of Apollo — a Roman temple built around 150 A.D. It’s one of the must-see landmarks in Side.
